About · Dr Orlando Olumide Odejide

Governance is not a document.
It is a decision made well, repeatedly.

For twenty-four years I have worked alongside boards, executives and regulators to turn governance, risk, compliance and sustainability requirements into frameworks people actually use — across Nigeria, Ghana and international institutions.

The work

I sit on the side of the table where the hard questions get asked.

Most organizations do not fail because they lacked a policy. They fail because the policy never reached the decision.

My practice closes that distance. I advise boards, executive leadership and institutions on governance, enterprise risk, compliance and sustainability — not as separate compliance exercises, but as one connected discipline that shapes how an organization decides, delegates, and answers for itself.

The work is deliberately unglamorous: defining who decides what, and on what evidence. Mapping obligations to the people who own them. Building risk registers that inform strategy rather than sit beside it. Making assurance something leadership relies on instead of endures.

I came to governance through delivery, not theory. Programme and project management, organizational change, enterprise architecture, information security, IT service management, IT assurance and system integration — I have led all of them at scale before advising on how they should be governed. That order matters. It is why the frameworks I build survive contact with the people who have to operate them.

I work to international standards because they carry weight with regulators, investors and partners. But a standard is a starting point, not an answer. Every framework is shaped to the organization in front of me — its market, its maturity, its constraints, and the people who will have to live with it after I leave.

Where I have worked

Four sectors. Two countries. Two decades of implementation.

Regulated industries take up most of my practice — environments where the cost of a weak control is measured by a regulator rather than a report.

01

Financial services

Banking, insurance, pension, capital markets and fintech — over 200 client engagements, the largest concentration of my work.

02

Government & public sector

Education, health, transportation, aviation, natural resources, water and financial crimes control.

03

Telecommunications & internet services

Operators and service providers carrying continuity, security and service-management obligations at national scale.

04

Manufacturing & FMCG

Quality, environment, occupational health and supply-chain governance across production and distribution.

How I work

Three commitments that shape every engagement.

01 — Counsel

Board-level, not back-office

Governance only holds if it starts where authority sits. I engage directly with boards and executive teams on oversight, decision rights and accountability — then push the framework down through the organization, not the other way around.

02 — Translation

Standards into working practice

A clause is not a control. I translate requirements and regulatory obligations into registers, procedures, roles and reporting lines that people can operate under pressure — and that stand up under audit.

03 — Fit

Context over template

What works in a tier-one bank rarely transfers unedited to a ministry or a manufacturer. Every framework is built for the maturity, market and constraints it will actually operate in.
